Breaking Language Barriers in your editorial system: automatic translation

We have been working on a new feature for news translation. Some months ago, we released the news translation with AI, here the translation is carried out manually. Today, we are happy to present you the pipeline translation feature for BrixWire News Hub. This advanced function is designed to revolutionize the way publishers handle foreign-language content by automatically recognizing and translating it into their desired language.

Understanding Pipeline Translation

Pipeline translation is an advanced process that systematically automates the translation of content from one language to another. This feature identifies the language of imported articles and seamlessly translates them, producing an accurate translation in the preferred language, and eliminating the need for manual translation efforts.

Open Source Translation API

We use Libre Translate, a free and Open Source Machine Translation API, to generate the translations.

Supported languages include Arabic, Azerbaijani, Catalan, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian.

Commercial translation APIs

As usual, we integrated a plugin concept for translations, so it is possible to use commercial translation APIs like:

    • DeepL
    • Microsoft
    • Google
    • etc.

It depends on the Use Case, as Libre Translate is not as precise as the commercial ones, but it may be sufficient to understand the content of an article.

How Pipeline Translation Works in BrixWire News Hub

In this video, we show you the pipeline translation, implemented in our Spotlight Ukraine. Here, the content arrives in Russian and Ukrainian and is automatically translated into English. In the News Browser will then appear the original article and its variants, by clicking on a news item and checking the metadata area it is possible to see the variants of the article.

Implementing Pipeline Translation within BrixWire News Hub yields numerous benefits for publishers within their editorial system workflow, like time and resource savings, eliminating the need for manual translations efforts, and streamlined workflow efficiency, which simplifies the content translation process, allowing publishers to focus on content creation and distribution.
